Raising a Reader program increases access to books and gives families resources and support to strengthen the culture of reading at home.
Research shows a significant factor
impacting a child’s lifelong success is being regularly read to by their parents or other primary adult caregiver before starting kindergarten.
Besides the red bag book rotation which puts dozens of high quality, developmentally,
linguistically, and culturally appropriate books in the hands of children and families to share at home each year, Raising A Reader provides multilingual workshops, training tools, and other support services that help
parents master Interactive and Dialogic Reading strategies so they can read and share stories at home in a way that supports both their children’s early development and parent/child bonding.
